Pilgrimage Tour to Fatima, Portugal

During a 20-day Best of Europe adventure last summer, the highlight of our trip to Portugal was visiting Fatima.

The hotel where we stayed in.

While there, we were lucky to have participated in the procession of Our Lady of Fatima and the Sunday mass. During the recitation of the rosary, Hail Mary was said in Filipino in the 4th decade. How cool is that?!

We spent a couple of days there and I went to the Our Lady of Fatima Shrine at different times of the day.

But what moved me the most while in Fatima were the pilgrims who prayed on their knees towards the Chapel of Visitation. It was a long path (about 1 km). Even when the temperature reached 11 degrees or while it rained and the wind was strong, they still continued praying on their knees.  I was moved to tears just seeing them.

Within Fatima, we were also able to visit the houses of the Fatima visionaries (Blessed Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia).

I was so happy to see so many flowers on tombs.  Maybe locals have the habit of visiting their deceased loves ones after they hear mass.

While in Portugal, we also passed by Porto for some wine-tasting. Since I don’t really drink, I  zoned out. 😆

The only thing that I captured was that the older the wine, the lighter its color becomes. 😅
