Best beach destination - beautiful Coron, Palawan

For beach bums, Coron, Palawan is a must in your list when planning your trips. The islands are just so beautiful!    For me, it's the best beach destination in the Philippines ... and the second best destination in the Philippines after Batanes.  Check these out -

Coron is a great place to snorkel and dive. And though I don't dive, I was so happy to see 2 ship wrecks, beautiful corals and plenty of colorful fishes with the aid of my cheapo snorkel gear! Hehe...

This is how clear the water is -

Here are the top places to see when in Coron -

Kayangan Lake - it's the cleanest lake in the Philippines.  Here's proof -

Here's the boat we used to go around Kayangan Lake - notice that there's a missing part? It was really designed that way so that it could be docked alongside the bamboo bridge.   But even if it doesn't look it is balanced, our skillful boatman was able to tour us (there were 3 of us with him in this small boat) without it capsizing. Haha...

Twin Lagoon - it has been compared to the Phi Phi Islands (of the movie "The Beach") where a tribe lives within an enclosed paradise. You have to dive into a hole about 1.5 meters long to get to the enclosed lagoon.

See the small gap between the rock formation and water? That's where you need to dive under.

Calauit Safari - it's a 2-hour bumpy drive from Coron, Palawan (approximately 90kms) plus a 15-min boat ride.

It's been my dream to go on a South African Safari and this is the next best thing for me while I'm still saving up for my real safari adventure!  Haha...

Here's our Safari Jeepney - that's a 40-year old jeepney! :)

And hear are the animals we spotted in our safari adventure -

Bearcat
Porcupine
Mouse Deer
According to the tour guide, the Calauit Safari used to be the hunting ground of ex-President Ferdinand Marcos in the 1970s.

Gun Boat and Skeletal Shipwrecks - Again, even if you don't dive, you can still view the shipwrecks just by snorkeling.

I was so amazed by the local guides. They can dive even without diving gear!

Sorry, I don't have photos in this area since I didn't bring my camera here.

Barracuda Lake -  why Barracuda lake?  Because there used to be Barracuda sightings here before.  Not sure how long ago.  But the guide said, it was a long, long time ago but the name stuck.

Go island-hopping.  You could have packed lunch and spend the day in an island and sometimes, you could have the island for yourselves.

Here are 3 different beaches but look how consistently beautiful they are -

CYC Beach

Kalumbayan Island

Banol Beach
While at Banol Beach, spotted these local kids just having a great time playing with the white sand.

At the end of the day, after an island hopping tour, here's the beautiful scene that would greet you as you reach the boat station.  Stilt houses against the beautiful sunset :)
